What you’ll love and hate
Such a magnificent historical setting! Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden was truly remarkable, and the dinner at restaurant 1831 exceeded my expectations! !
Breakfast pricing felt exorbitant, and I faced a long wait for service—certainly not ideal for early risers.

We stumbled upon this beautiful hotel while exploring the area, and stepping into the courtyard felt like a moment frozen in time, which made our trip feel special. Plus, the nearby Kettwiger See is perfect for scenic strolls and enjoying nature, and it only takes a quick walk to visit the lovely Old Town Kettwig to immerse yourself in the local charm.

The dinner menu was a culinary adventure, with standout fish and meat dishes that truly dazzled. Plus, the setting is absolutely enchanting with lush gardens. And let's not forget the breakfast spread—definitely an experience worth savoring!
While the stunning hotel is worth a visit, we faced a hiccup with our room not matching what we booked, which left us a bit bummed. Make sure to double-check your reservation to avoid any surprise mix-ups.

I really enjoyed my stay at Schlosshotel Hugenpoet. The charming courtyard and lush gardens created a serene atmosphere. My Classic Double Room was beautiful and cozy, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The dinner at restaurant 1831 was a highlight, especially the dishes featuring fresh fish and meat. Breakfast was one of the best I've had, with plenty of options that tasted exceptional. A couple of things could be better, though. The water pressure in the shower was a bit low, which was disappointing. Also, I wish there had been more information about the castle itself. I left without learning much about its history. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely consider coming back.

The historical architecture of the property boasts ornate detail, making wandering the grounds a visual delight. The charming courtyard, complete with a tranquil garden, provides a serene escape amidst the bustle of travel.
The modern decor feels out of sync with the venue's rich history, leaving some areas feeling sterile rather than inviting. Notably, the water pressure in the shower could use an upgrade — a low flow isn't ideal after a long day. Dinner service has strict hours, which can be frustrating for late arrivals seeking a meal or even just a coffee. The bar lacks a decent drink selection for a place of its caliber, which should offer more than the basics.
